Elders Potato Seed Varieties
Argos - an extremely high yielding early maincrop maturing variety that produces large uniform tubers of excellent flavour. It is resistant to potato cyst nematode Ro1, and has shown good resistance to drought and tolerance to heat stress, and is well suited to areas with a hot growing season. The vigorous growing nature of the plant makes it a suitable choice for organic production methods.
Atlantic -a common variety with maincrop maturity, moderate yields and short dormancy. Resistant to potato cyst nematode Ro1. Good resistance to potato leaf roll virus, common scab and drought. Moderately susceptible to damage, bruising, blight, potato virus Y, gangrene and susceptible to spraing. High dry matter, good fry colour.
Celine - a slightly kidney shaped early main crop red skinned variety with excellent eye appeal and eating quality. The variety is yellow fleshed and has the ability to yield highly under fertile conditions. This variety is well suited to the fresh washing sector, and will produce high pack–outs due to its low out-grade levels. It has shown good resistance to skin blemishes and has good resistance to Common Scab, Potato leaf roll virus, and Potato virus Y.
Coliban -a common variety with early maturity and good yields of large tubers with a short dormancy. Resistant to drought but susceptible to cracking damage when handled from cold soils. High yield of tubers best suited to baking, mashing and will fry when freshly harvested from warm soils. Coliban may fall apart when boiled, especially if boiled too long. Has medium dry matter.
Desiree - a common variety with maincrop maturity, high yields and early bulking. High resistance to drought and good resistance to potato virus Y and powdery scab. Susceptible to potato cyst nematode and mis-shapes on heavy soils. Moderately susceptible to spraing and mild mosaic viruses. Medium dry matter, firm cooked texture, good boiling, fresh french fry and mashing quality.

Eos - suitable for the fresh brush market sector. The variety produces vigorous tops and has displayed a high yield capacity of medium to bold tubers. The variety is resistant to PCN RO1, and has good resistance to Common Scab.

Eva - a dual purpose variety suitable for chipping and fresh market sectors. Eva was introduced into Australia as a crisping variety but has found a niche as a white washing potato with white flesh. Eva sets few potatoes so if grown under tough conditions, potato size can be maintained generally coinciding with higher priced potatoes than normal. Internal quality is good and the variety is resistant to PCN R01.

Friar - a high dry matter variety producing good yields of uniform sized potatoes. The tubers are round to oval with smooth white to yellow skin and pale yellow flesh. The variety is best suited for harvesting in winter months when the skin finish is at its best.

Harmony - a variety with excellent washing qualities that provides high pack outs of medium sized tubers. Harmony produces bold uniformly shaped tubers with a smooth white skin finish. It is high yielding with low out-grades, and excellent damage and bruise resistance. The variety keeps well after washing and maintains excellent retail appeal.

Inova - a quick maturing variety that can be grown in 90 to 100 days, the skin sets rapidly allowing early harvest with very little risk of skin damage. It has a smooth yellow skin with light yellow flesh, and is well suited for the washing and pre-pack markets. The plants show reasonable resistance to Common Scab, and tubers have good damage resistance. The variety would be well suited to the gourmet market with a great potato flavour, and versatile cooking uses.

Kestrel - a white to cream skinned variety with purple splashes of colour around the eyes. An attractive and eye catching line, that has medium dry matter, and is highly versatile in the kitchen. It is best suited to the pre-pack and loose potato market segments. It is high yielding with uniform tubers, and minimal out-grades at packing.

Maxine - an oval to round, early crop variety, red skinned with white flesh of excellent flavour. It produces high yields of very even potatoes, a very attractive washed red potato, best suited to the fresh wash market sector. In trials it has shown good resistance to skin blemish pathogens, and has a very attractive appearance. Maxine is resistant to PCN R01.

Mimi – a red skinned variety with light yellow flesh. It is a second early in maturity, high yielding salad variety. It sets and yields a high number of small tubers (up to 40 tubers per plant) that is aimed at the punnet market sector. It has high resistance to both Powdery and Common Scab.

Mondial - has a vigorous growing habit after emergence that can produce very high yields. The tubers are short to long oval with smooth skin and shallow eyes. Nitrogen nutrition needs to be well managed to ensure maturity is not overly delayed, and the tubers do not become too large or misshapen. Is resistant to PCN Ro1, and shows good resistance to PLRV, Virus PVY, Virus A, and Virus X. The variety is well suited for the general ware market for table use and can be washed if grown in lighter sandier soil types.

Nadine - has high yield potential of uniform attractive tubers, especially at maturity but a challenge to grow at times. Good resistance to bruising, gangrene, common scab, skin spot and potato virus Y. Resistant to potato cyst nematode Ro1 and partial resistance to Pa2/3. Susceptible to drought stress, powdery scab and potato leaf roll virus. Low dry matter with a firm cooked texture, good boiling quality. It has outstanding market attributes including long shelf life, great washed appearance and bloom unmatched by any other variety in Australia. Nadine is restricted for growing with selected growers and packers so therefore is not widely available for growers.
Osprey - an attractive white smooth skinned variety with medium depth pink eyes, and cream flesh. It produces high yields of evenly sized bold parti-coloured tubers. It has early maincrop maturity, and is suitable for the fresh market sector as a pre-pack line.

Redgem - a smooth red skinned variety, with cream flesh and shallow eyes. It has good yields of medium sized tubers. Redgem is a medium dry matter variety with excellent taste and texture. It is suitable as a pre-pack washing line aimed at the general purpose market sector.
Shine -a common variety, yields similar to Sebago (moderate to high yield) with early bulking of round tubers with short dormancy. Skin and flesh are white. Dry matter is medium and potatoes are suitable for general purpose use. Shine is resistant to Potato Cyst Nematode (R01 strain).

Sini - well suited to the production of crisping potatoes due to its high tuber setting ability and good fry colours. The tubers are round to short oval, with light yellow skin and flesh.

Ultra - has a vigorous growth habit with high yield potential for main season potato production. The tubers are long oval with smooth yellow skin and shallow eyes. It is resistant to PCN Ro1, and has moderate resistance to most diseases.

Valor - a high yielding maincrop variety producing large and uniform white skinned tubers with cream flesh. Valor is well suited to the fresh brushing market, producing excellent pack outs. Valor is ideally suited for organic production, due to the vigorous top growth, resistance to blight, and tolerance to drought conditions. Valor is highly recommended for baking and pre-packing.

White Lady - a variety with high yield potential producing good numbers of very even tubers of medium size. It has a smooth white skin and cream flesh. The variety is well suited to the washing market, and its even tuber size distribution makes it highly suitable as a pre-pack line. It has good resistance to Powdery scab, Potato leaf roll virus, and Potato virus Y.
